Trouble sending mail/asks for password continually

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC
Email Client: pop

A box appears often when I try to send an email, asking me to enter my account and password in order to send emails. My email address appears as the account name. I of course submit the password. I then check the box that says, "Save password in my Mac OS keychain." Doesn't seem to help. I sometimes have to do this several times a day. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Open the /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access and try to use the
Keychain first aid command.
If this doesn't solve the issue, look for the entry corresponding to
your account and delete it to let Entoruage re-create it fresh next time
you try to send an e-mail,
