Trouble synching exchange mail folders

I

Irwin Lazar

I am trying to enable synchronization of my Exchange e-mail folders with
Entourage. I have numerous folders within my exchange in-box that I use to
file mail.

I have set up a schedule task that is configured on quit to receive all mail
from all folders (I have individually configured all folders within the
schedule task).

However, when I work in off-line mode (not connected to the Exchange
Server) most of my folders are empty.

When I reconnect and select a folder, after a few minutes the contents of
the folder appears.

How can I set up entourage so that it will synchronize the contents of all
my in-box folders so that when I am not connected I have all copies of all
messages that are on the exchange server.

Thanks in advance,
Irwin

Exchange gives you access to the Exchange server when you're connected.
Receiving mail on Exchange, and clicking on each new message when you're
connected should download it to your local cache. Even when not connected,
the folders should be showing already-read messages when you click on them.
The only way that they should look "empty" is if you have the folders set to
show only Unread messages.

If the messages have not been downloaded yet, (still unread), then clicking
on the headers when not connected will do nothing. Similarly, having a
schedule to receive all messages on quit is not going to download them if
you don't quite when connected. There's no such thing as a schedule set to
run "when about to go offline".

You should configure your Exchange account to Download all messages (no
partial downloading) in the Mail tab. of the account. While you're connected
it should be synchronizing every few minutes. When you go offline the
messages should be visible and readable.

You could experiment with making a rule in Tools/Rules/Exchange to Copy all
messages to equivalent local folders "On My Computer".
