trouble syncing exchange server calendar with hard drive calendar

Greetings,

I recently established an account on an exchange server and I want to
sync the calendar on my pda with my calendar on the exchange server.
It seems odd to me, but Entourage seems to require the maintenance of
separate calendars on my hard drive and on the exchange server. My pda
syncs with the calendar on my hard drive, but not directly with the one
on the exchange server, and unfortunately the calendars on my hard
drive and the one on the exchange server will not sync with each other.
Is there a fix for this problem?

Thanks,

Guy

You're posting through Safari in Google so I can't figure out what
version of ENtourage you're using... Let's assume it's 2004 (otherwise I
suppose the phrasing of your question would have been different).

It's seems odd to me too, but some people (not me) actually want that.
They want to have an Exchange calendar separate from a private - not on
the server calendar.

Yep, you have to make sure your Exchange account is set to get the
default one (Tools:Accounts). This alows the Palm to sync directly to
it.

YOU ARE CORRECT. [SORRY FOR THE CAPS. I AM JUST TRYING TO KEEP THE
THREADS CLEAR.]

I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT. IT IS THE ABSENCE OF THE OPTION TO DELETE THE
CALENDAR ON MY COMPUTER THAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

I AM SYNCING A DELL AXIM X30 USING MISSING SYNC, BUT I DON'T THINK
THESE DETAILS ARE RELATED TO MY PROBLEM. WHEN I GO INTO TOOLS:ACCOUNTS
I SEE A WINDOW IN WHICH I CAN CHOOSE "MAIL", "NEWS", "DIRECTORY
SERVICE", OR "EXCHANGE". "MAIL" DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT, BECAUSE I AM
TRYING TO SYNC MY CALENDAR INFORMATION. NEVERTHELESS, I INITIALLY
SELECTED THE EXCHANGE SERVER AS THE DEFAULT IN THIS WINDOW AND IT
RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF ALL MY CALENDAR INFORMATION ON MY PDA. IT HAS
TAKEN A WHILE, BUT I HAVE THAT INFORMATION BACK ON MY PDA. STILL, NO
MATTER WHAT I HAVE TRIED, THE PDA WILL ONLY SYNC WITH THE CALENDAR ON
MY COMPUTER AND NOT DIRECTLY WITH THE ONE ON THE EXCHANGE SERVER. DO
YOU HAVE ANY MORE ADVICE, OR CAN YOU BE MORE SPECIFIC ABOUT WHAT YOU
SUGGESTED BEFORE?

I APPRECIATE YOUR HELP.

REGARDS,

GUY

I'm having this same problem. I think the message is saying that if
you choose Exchange as the default mail account, then the sync programs
will pick up the other exchage items by default as well. If so, I
don't like this approach. You should have the ability to specify
default service for mail, calendar and contacts because the preferred
information source may be different for each one. For example, pop
email but Exchange calendar and contacts.

I don't understand why the functionality changed under 11.2.1.
Entourage used to deposit Exchange Server items directly into the local
folders. With the 11.2.1 update it created the local/exchange split.
It would be nice if they could create the ability to choose where the
items go. I for one would like to have my work/personal items
together.

I couldn't agree more, unfortunately I don't think this is currently
possible :-\
