Troubleshooting sending mail

Hi there...

i'm having a little trouble over a year alreadty and it's time to solve it,
so here is the situation.

i'm using Office XP professional with SP3 and Windows XP PRO SP2.

the problem is, whenever i'm sending mail via word or excel, i'm having a
problem to use the option: mail recipeint, it's just grayed out.

i'm going to file - send to - and the rest is grayedout.

how do i solve this little annoying issue.
