True Exchange Client

Hi folks,

We have tried to use Entourage as an Exchange client and it works up
to a point. We require that all our email remains stored on the server
and is viewed through the email client rather than downloaded to the
local machine. Is this possible with Entourage and if not is there a
suitable Mac OS X client out there? Thanks in anticipation.

Hi,

Entourage currently handles Exchange e-mails through the IMAP protocol.
With this protocol, the e-mails remain stored on the server (as opposed
to POP) (even though they might be downloaded to the Mac for faster
viewing). It shouldn't be a problem then.

Messages remain on the server, though they are cached locally by Entourage.
There's no way to prevent Entourage from caching messages locally, but you
can clear the cache by control-clicking the account in the folder list and
choosing the clear cache menu item. I know of no way to automatically clear
the cache.

Thanks for the responses guys. Our messages are not remaining on the
server. Have I missed a setting somewhere?

Could it be that you are getting the messages through POP ??? If the
protocol has been enabled on the server and the clients are set to use
it, that woould explain a lot...
