Trying to copy Microsoft User Data Folder

R

I am trying to copy Microsoft User Data Folder from my desktop to my
macbook. I keep getting this message:

"The operation could not be completed because you do not have sufficient
privileges for 'Database'"

What is the problem? How can I solve this?

First of all, I'd recommend repairing permissions through Disk Utility
(Applications/Utilities). After you've done that, select the MUD folder in
the Finder and hit Cmd + I to show the Info window. At the bottom of that
window, you should see a section called "Ownership & Permissions"; expand
the section, if it isn't already, and make sure that your permissions are
set to "Read & Write". Click on the small triangle next to Details to get
more information, and make sure that your user name has Read & Write access
(choose from the dropdown menu), then click on "Apply to enclosed items..."
at the very bottom of the window. That should solve most permission and
access problems, so see if you can copy your folder now. Also, as a general
piece of advice, you should quite Entourage before copying the MUD folder,
simpoly to prevent that the database is being written to while you are
copying the folder.

I have repaired permissions on both the G4 and my macbook

Get info on the G4 shows the Owner name (same as name of User account) has
read/write privileges. The Group name is staff and also has read/write
privileges as does Others ( Don't know what that means)

When I connect to the G4 from Macbook using Airport, I can drag the MUD
folder from G4 to Macbook. The dialog says "an item already exists in this
location. Do you want to replace it with the one you are moving?" Clicking
Replace begins move and then gives the message:

"The operation could not be completed because you do not have sufficient
privileges for 'Database'"

Is that the DATABASE on the G4? Is this problem related to Airport or the
name on the User accounts?

Instead of copying the entire Microsoft User Data folder over, just copy
over your 2004 Identities folder. Check permissions on folders and on the
database file. I have had files locked inside a Read & Write folder.

It should show same Owner name on old file and your new computer.
Access: Read & Write
Group: same as owner name
Access: Read only
Others: Read only

I cannot match the names for the two computers the Owner names on each file
match the name of the user account which aren't the same on each computer.

Also the owner name account is not listed as an option under Group name

Were the sub folders correct? The owner name might not be a problem. Try
copying into the shared folder and see if that works. The Shared folder is
located in the Users folder on your hard disk. You can use it to share files
with other users on your computer. The Shared folder is set up with Read &
Write permissions so that all users can open the files in this folder and
copy files to the folder.

From help:
I can't move or copy a file or folder
You may not have permission to move or copy the item, or you may not have
permission to move items to the disk, server, or folder where you want to
move it.

You need Read Only or Read & Write permissions to the item you want to move
or copy. You need Read & Write or Write Only access to the location where
you want to place it.

Also search Apple Help for "Setting permissions for disks, folders, and
files".
