Hi,

After reading many questions and answers from the Discussion Postings, I
have left myself totally confused...I just read a post dated 9-24 from
marc@ops asking how to round cells to the nearest dollar. I would like to do
the same but round to the nears exact lowest number. At this point I am
total confused, can someone help me with a complete formula...or example of
it..this is the formula I have in the cell right now:
=((F2-C2+(F2<C2))-(E2-D2+(E2<D2)))*24 is it possible to get that formula
equal the total but keep it at the correct total of 6.78 instead of 6.80?

I have to give this site a great thanks...it allows us to look questions or
problems from others ..and we are able then to take your wonderful helpful
answers and have them work for us...

Thanks,
Helpless

the contents in C2 =7:01 AM (start time)
D2 =1:03 PM (lunch out)
E2 = 1:54 PM (lunch in)
F2 =2:40 PM (time left)

G2= =-(F2-C2+(F2<C2))*24 (total hours) (total hours =7.65

H2==((F2-C2+(F2<C2))-(E2-D2+(E2<D2)))*24 (hours worked) (=6.78) which keeps
rounding to 6.80.

Hi
there's no rounding error. The total time worked is (in time format):
07:39 hours - 00:51 hours = 06:48 hours.
If you convert now 06:48 in decimal format the result is 6.80 (as 48
minutes are equivalent to 0.8)

So there's no rounding error :)

Total Hrs start to Finish = 14:40 - 07:01 = 07:39 Hrs/Mins
Lunch = 13:54 - 13:03 = 00:51 min

Total Less Lunch = 07:39 - 00:51 = 06:48 Hrs/Min OR 6.80 Hrs

Thanks everyone. I think it is possible that because the payroll department
calculates the times worked into 100's, it is throwing everything off. And
Lord knows I am surely unsure how to get the cells to calculate into 100's or
if it is even possible??

Hi
you just have to describe HOW you want to round your values. The value
Excel displays is the correct one. Now just check with HR how they
round times
