Trying to find a mail server for Entourage

My company would like to adopt Entourage 2004 as our e-mail client.
The only problem is our IT department says that because Entourage will
not automatically prompt the user to change his/her password that it
cannot be used as a corporate solution. Isn't this a server option?
Also, what are some other server solutions besides Exchange that will
work with Entourage? Does anyone know of a resource that will provide
information for choosing a server? Any help will be greatly
appreciated!!!

It is true that you can't change your account password within entourage. Not
many mail clients allow you to do this. However, if the password is changed
at the server then entourage will prompt you to put in the new one when the
connection fails. This should be acceptable - when the IT guys select a new
password for you, Entourage will prompt you for the new password on the next
connection.

If their 'corporate solution' means they are relying on users to change
passwords themselves, then they have bigger security issues than using
entourage!

Thanks Barry. So the server can be set up to change the users'
passwords every 30 days or so? Our IT guys are using this as their
main excuse for not using Entourage. Mostly, I think it's simply
because they don't like anything Microsoft and don't want to have to
use Exchange. Any thoughts on on the benefits of Entourage/Exchange?
