Trying to make Powerpoint HTML pages that don't launch new windows

Hi Steve,

That is a 40 million dollar question. We have many people
writing in that want to have your problem of opening a
link in a new window, but their links open in the same
window.

You say you're saving the charts as separate web pages, is
this one presentation? How are you linking to the pages?
Have you tried putting all the charts in one presentation
and then publishing the presentation as web pages?

Please let us know, because we may be able to determine
how to make the links open/not open in a new window based
on your answers.

And, for my soapbox, please check this site:
http://www.powerpointmagician.com/access/accessppthome.html
for info about creating and posting accessible
presentations on the web.

Thanks,
Glenna

Hi Glenna,

I am posting each chart as a separate web page so I can
allow users to go to the page they want to link to. I've
embedded hyperlinks in each page.

I did some analysis of the Hyperlinks that Powerpoint does
vs. the Word Hyperlinks. It turns out that the Powerpoint
links append 'target= " blank"' at the end of the
Powerpoint Hyperlinks. They don't show up on the Word
document I saved as HTML. When I used Notepad to remove
these 'target= " blank"' statements, it now comes up in
the existing window so that must be the key to the new
window.

P.S. The single quotes are mine, the double quotes are
what Powerpoint puts in the HTML.

Regards, Steve

Hey Steve R., Taj, et al.,

Did y'all catch this one? Looks like we might have an
answer for the PowerPoint HTML: how to open links in new
window/same window question.

Thanks, Steve Gaylord!
