Turn off auto repeat

I am typing a phone list for resident's of our retirement community. I have
two columns on a page and three items tabbed across each column.
Example:

Apartment # Residents' Name Phone Number

When I hit the enter key the Resident's name that I just typed moves to the
left next to apt. # and the next line adds the next sequence of numbers for
the apt. This list is in alpha order and the apt. numbers are not
sequential. How do I stop it from doing this.

It is the AutoCorrect options. Tools, AutoCorrect Options, "AutoFormat as you
Type" tab, clear "Automatic numbered lists."
