Turn off Preview pane from registry?

does anyone know wht the registry key is that controls
the previow pane being on or off? every time i open
outlook XP it crashes, and i believe it has to do with
the active message haveing something displayed in the
preview pane that causes the error.

Just start Outlook one time with the /nopreviewpane option.
Start->run->outlook.exe /nopreviewpane.
