Tweak Outlook Xp to use S/MIME version 2?

Outlook XP uses S/MIME version 3 to add security to its messages. Is it
possible to tweak it to use S/MIME version 2?

I am interested in changing the content-type message header coming from
Outlook XP from application/pkcs7-mime to application/x-pkcs7-mime. Does
anyone know if I can do this?

Thanx in advance

FWIW, non-administrative installs of Office XP on NT/2k purportedly use
SMIME v2 and administrative user installs use SMIME v3 (and v2). I have not
tried such installs myself to verify this. But if it is true, then that
might lead to an answer for your question.

AFAIK that would be hard to do.

Thanx a lot for the info.

What do you mean by non-administrative installs of Office XP?
