Typical Rebuild

Program says compacting and optimizing mail. Then it has a number of 17,750.
What is this huge number referring to? I hope it's not mail as I have no
where near this amount. Thanks!!

It is database items, and includes calendar events, notes, todos, contacts
and cached newsgroup messages.

I don't use most of that stuff, calendar, notes... Mostly very basic e
mails. Does the 17,000 seem a bit high? Thanks!

Not really, when I rebuild the number is something like 450,000!

Do you have contacts entered? Do you allow entourage to link contacts to the
mail sent to/received from them? Each of these links would constitute a
database entry to be rebuilt in a typical rebuild.
