Unable to add News command to Go category in Outlook 2003

Following the instructions in Outlook 2003 help, I am unable to drag the NEWS command to the GO category. (I have designated OE in MSIE preferences as newsreader as indicated in other postings). When attempting to drag the NEWS category, the small box that would normally have the "+" in it, in fact, has an "x" in it and I am unable to add it to the GO category at all. The GO category doesn't expand to indicate where to place it either. In fact, any attempt to add any of the various commands to any of the categories yields the same effect. The "+" appears briefly, when first clicked, until attempting to drag the command, whereby it changes to an "x"

If responding by email, please remove the additional @

Sounds like you are doing things correctly. Try renaming the outcmd.dat file
to outcmd.old. This will reset your Toolbar. If it still doesn't work you
can rename the file back and post back here.

Well, it was worth a try but no joy. Thanks for the
suggestion however.

Strange. Does it work in other programs like Word? Try a repair of Office.

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, click the "Don't ask me again" box and then click the No button.
