unable to apply powerpoint template to selected slides

Why can't I apply a powerpoint template to selected slides? The only option
I am provided is "Apply to All Slides".

Hi,

There is a little drop down arrow that should say: "Apply to selected
slides". Depending on your PowerPoint version.

Please tell us your PowerPoint version,
whether you are using vba,
whether your dog has fleas, or
anything else relevant.

I am using PowerPoint 2003 - SP1. VBA - I don't think so. Dog fleas - not
anymore. I don't have this same problem on my desktop PC running PowerPoint.
Go figure.
