Unable to configure Internet Email

E

Eddie K

I have Windows NT Workstation and I am currently running
Outlook 2000 with all the lasted patches and upgrade as of
August 18th, 2003. Earlier this month, Windows Update page
updated a file that was not meant for my Workstation and
starting causing a few problems. After unloading and
reloading software in relations to internet access, I
finally found out what the culprit was. It was security
patch 823803. After following all the fixes, I was able to
get back online and do everything as I did before with the
exception that I cannot use Outlook 2000 for Internet
Email. Currently I am able to use Outlook Express with no
problem. My problem with Outlook 2000 is list below:

SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Outlook 97, you may receive the following
error message when attempting to add or configure the
Internet E-mail service:

"The action could not be completed. The action could not
be completed."

CAUSE:
The Internet E-Mail Service was not properly installed.

RESOLUTION"
Follow these steps to download and install the Internet
Mail Enhancement Patch Final Release:
Rename the MINET32.DLL file, (to MINET32.BAK for example).
Visit the following Microsoft Web site:

http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/9798/outlimep.aspx
Click to select the "Internet Mail Enhancement Patch."
Click to download the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch
Final Release.

When you are prompted to Open or Save to Disk, Click Open
It.

Finish installing the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch
Final Release, disconnect from the Internet, and then
restart your computer.

Ok, this is the exact problem I have but what I don't know
is that this patch listed is for Outlook 97 but it did not
indicate it was for Outlook 2000. I want to know if this
patch is also good for Outlook 2000?

Thanks.
Eddie
