Unable to connect to Exchange

Connecting to work via VPN. Unable to setup and use the Entourage 2004
client. The client can't locate the exchange server. I was told this is simply
called "server1" however I assume that a better name or IP address is
needed. In set up do I use the "http://" before the name or IP ?
Can some one please provide an example of the entries in a manually
configured account? I could not find a example in any documentation.
