Unable to delete email msg/spam/virus? in Entourage X

R

Robin S.

Hi. I am using Entourage X on a G4.
I have a spam email message with an attachment (it appears in 2
places) that I am not able to delete. It gives me the message 'The
action could not be completed. Not enough memory', which cannot be the
case. I am concerned that the message may contain a virus, although
Norton Virus Scan shows nothing on my system. Every time I try to
delete the msg Entourage freezes and I need to quit it and start again
to use the program. I have tried closing the preview pane to delete,
using Apple+delete, dragging the file to a folder on my desk top and
having Norton Wipe the file, and nothing seems to work.
Please help if you can, I am at my wits end! Thanks.

Hi Robin,

One way I could think is deleted this mail thru webmail and check if there
is possibility to check these mails using browser.
Else rebuild the database holding option key before launching the entourage
and select option to rebuild this may take anywhere between 5-30 minutes
depending on your database size. After that try deleting the same and check.

Regards

Mahesh

If the problem recurrs, try turning off the preview pane before selecting
for deletion - this will sometimes do the trick.

Hi there,
I wonder if any one can help me. I have just recenty started to use a
Mac. I am running Office for MAc on a Powerbook. Using Entourage I
have 3 email from Apple (unsolicited) which I can not remove. They can
be transferred to other folders but the original remains in the in-box
and have resisted all my efforts to remove them. They continue to
remain there; A bit like Hamlet's ghost.
If there is any one out there who can offer a suggestion I would very
much appreciate it
Best wishes
john

I can't really help you on this one, but if I were you, I'd try and delete
the messages from within the .mac webmail interface. Maybe that will work.

Try that first, but it's quite likely you won't see the messages from
webmail access: It's just possible that the messages have actually already
been deleted from the server but are still showing up in Entourage's local
cache, and can't be "re-deleted" - assuming you're using .mac as IMAP and
are referring to the .Mac IMAP INBOX, not the Inbox "On My Computer". If so,
while viewing the IMAP INBOX press opt-cmd-L, or "Repair Message List" in
the menu that appears when you right-click (control-click) on that INBOX.

If that doesn't help or you are referring to the local Inbox "On My
Computer" (.Mac used as POP account), quit Entourage, re-launch it holding
down Option key, and choose "Compact". That should work. (And if it doesn't,
try again choosing Rebuild.)
