Unable to delete messages on OE

I use a Pop 3 e mail program on "Outlook Express. Lately
I cannot delete like 25% of incoming emails. No error
message, just nothing happens when I press delete!

I tried emptying part of the deleted items folder but
this didn't help.

Any suggestions?
