unable to find server?

Unable to send mail using my mac account using the mac.com server
Error message returned is :-
Error------------
Mail could not be sent using the account "vianalky"

Explanation--------
The specified server could not be found



Error :- 3170

I'm using the same setting in Entourage as in standard package
supplied with my power Mac

I.e.
Smpt.mac.com:vianalky as my Outgoing Mail Server (SMPT)

Please could you help?

Your outgoing should be "SMTP" and not "SMPT". Just check to see if you
accidentally transposed those two letters.

Sorry "SMTP" was a typo in this message and was & is "SMTP" in the accounts.

Make sure it's just smtp.mac.com, not smtp.mac.com:vianalky. Then, click
the "Advanced Sending Options" button, and check the "SMTP server requires
authentication" option, as well as "Use same settings as incoming mail
server". Click OK and try again.

If that doesn't work, it is possible that your ISP blocks traffic on port
25. In that case, turn off the authentication option and change the SMTP
server to that provided by your ISP. See if that works.
