Unable to Get Addresses

D

Don Bouchard

I love Outlook 2003, but I have a problem trying to transfer my Outlook
configuration and data from my old computer to my new laptop. I copied both
Outlook.pst and archive.pst from my old computer to my new computer. All the
contacts are there, but when I create a new message I am unable to access
the names and email addresses in the Contact folder when I click on the open
address book icon in new message. Instead I get a window saying Contacts are
disabled and inaccessible. Yet, when I click on Contacts in Outlook, all my
contact data are there.

I tried correcting this by making Contacts my address book for emails, but
with no success.

Anybody know what is wrong and how to correct this?

Thank you.

You might need to add the Outlook Address Book Service to your profile.
Tools->Email Accounts->Directories->Add. Add the Outlook Address Book
service, shut down and then restart Outlook and it should work fine.

Also, make sure your contact folder(s) are marked as OABs - Right click on
each->Properties->Address Book Tab->ensure they are marked to be used as
Address Books.
