Unable to open Attachments

Please help, most attachments within Entourage (office 2004) do not open,
currently running a G5 using Mac OS X (Tiger) If attachments saved to
Hardisk, then running the application. ie Word, Excel, the attachment then
opens. Any suggestions !!!!
