Unable to open contacts

Could anyone please help me with the following:-

I am responsible for migrating mail from one organisation to another. We
currently use Outlook 2000 but the organisation I am migrating to uses
Outlook 97. My problem is that some contacts that I migrate cannot be
opened. The error is "Could not complete the operation. One or more
parameter values are not valid".
Upgrading to Outlook 2000 is not an option at the moment.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
