Unable to open Shared Calendar

Hi,

Sally is running Entourage 2008 v 12.0.1 (080305) on Mac OS X 10.4.12 on a Power PC.

It has Exchange support as it's currently connected to an Exchange Server 2003 (not sure exactly the details of the Server - i can get if you need). All the basic functionality for Sally on Entoruage/Exchange is working fine (email, calendar) and when she goes to Web Based outlook she sees the same things as with Entourage.

Another user Jack has provided Sally with "Publishing Editor" privledges to his Calendar.

When she selects "Open Other User's Folder" from the file menu, then Browses to select a valid user (Jack) from Exchange, selects Calendar and then click open she gets the following message:

User's folder could not be found
Entourage could not find a mailbox for user Jack.

Jack does indeed have a valid account/mailbox (it was selected from the dialog box in the Open Other folder dialog) so no typo there.

Is there something else missing or some special trick?

Thanks,
-John

Hi John!

The first questions that comes to my mind are the simplest: Has Jack
verified he has indeed shared his calendar to Sally or could he have
possibly shared it to someone else accidentally?

The same goes for Sally. Has she verified that she is connecting to the
correct account?

Rather than sharing the calendar you might try having Jack make Sally a
delegate of his calendar using Tools --> Accounts... --> his Exchange
account --> Advanced.

Hope this helps!

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your reply.

In fact yesterday we had Sally log into a PC running Office 2007 and in Outlook 2007 she was able to login to the same exchange server, view her e-mail and even open Jack's Calendar for viewing.

Therefore it appears to be something specific with Entourage 2008 that doesn't alow her to access the calendar.

Again I find it curious that the error message states it can't find a mailbox for Jack (rather then saying it's a permissions problem with the Calendar).

Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
-John

Hi Hein,
Thanks for your suggestion. We are using different domains, so we did associate e-mail accounts from the main domain, to the user's mailbox but we were still unable to open the other users calendar.

Does anyone know if the LDAP services need to be enabled for this functionality to work for some reason? (Just looking for some other ideas to try).

If anyone has any further suggestions I would be happy to hear from you.

Thanks,
-John

Hi,
So after reading more carefully the post from Hein, and the link (http://support.microsoft.com/?id=924608) I was able to get it to work by following these steps:

Use the full URL to open the shared folder
1. Click File, and then click Open Other User's Folder.
2. Click Find user.
3. Click Advanced.
4. Type the full URL to the user's account and Exchange server, and then click OK. (for me this was <https://exchange.myserver.com/exchange/jack)>
Then also put Jack's full name and e-mail address.
5. On the Type menu, Select Calendar, and then click OK.

I was then able to open the calendar.

Thanks Hein!

John,

are you also able to use new event / scheduling function to view free time
for each user when making new appointment requests?

These do not seem to work with us, nor resource scheduling.
