Unable to publish. Web folders ceased working.

My hosting comany had a brief outage. During that time I tried to publish my
site to their server. They say the outage did NOT affect their web server.
But when I tried to publish Frontpage could not, giving various reasons -
including web server not available.

Since then I have not been able to publish to ANY IIS servers including one
not involved. Also my web folders have ceased working giving: "The folder
you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another."

I have tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287402/EN-US/ doing what is
applicable to Windows XP. I am using Windows XP SP2 Frontpage 2003. (I do
not see an updated article applying to Frontpage 2003, etc.)

I tried (actually did this first):
http://www.interlacken.com/winnt/tips/tipshow.aspx?tip=24

What gives? I even tried
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315621

The servers are fine. It is my machine. I am wondering if I over corrected
doing the interlacken.com first...

Can you open any of your online sites in FP (from FP or IE)?
If not check any firewall setting or in WinXP SP2 Check if FP is an Exception under Security Firewall settings

I tried it. On one site it said I did not have permission, did I want to
open it in Read Only? I said Yes. It opened. (My firewall is disabled.)

Then I closed it. I tried to open another site Frontpage said the site was
not accessible. Folder may be in an inaccessble location, password
protected, etc.

I went back to the other site, expecting to get the read-only but instead
got the above message?! And this time could not even open it.

I can open them in IE. No problem. Why can I open them in IE but not FP?

1. Open My Network Places, etc. and delete the location.

2. Open the remote site in IE, then use File Menu | Edit with FP, if this works, then you should be
able to open the site thereafter directly in FP via File Menu | Open Web / Site.
