Unable to rebuild database...What do I do next?

I am running Entourage X on an iMac G4. In the middle of using email it crashed. It said to rebuild the database. Tried regular and advanced rebuild with no success. Also tried to copy the database from User Data folder to CD to backup, and was unable to read/copy.

What can I do next to salvage my email and contacts?

I have also had outlook crash and corrupt the database on a MacBook Pro using Entourage 2008 and the Database Utility was "unable to repair" the database... Now what? Did I loose everything since the last backup?

In addition to your database, you need to consider your drive. How
fragmented is your drive and how full is it? Users have found that by moving
their database to a larger drive they were able to rebuild.

I would run Disk Repair on your drive too.

If you migrate over to Mail on the Mac, it will ask you if you want to import from Entourage. Tell it yes, and it will salvage most of your stuff, even though Entourage can't open it. This worked for my buddy.

I suppose you could then try to migrate back to Entourage again, but he didn't.
