Unable to receive email

Since I downloaded the latest update of Office for Mac I cannot receive
email on Entourage. When Entourage tries to receive, it times out (I
think) and I get an error saying my password is incorrect. I have tried
without success to locate the password setting. Can anyone out there
help this luddite fix this problem? Oh, and I can't even open Mac Mail
since this started.

What kind of e-mail account?? IMAP, POP, Exchange???
Oh, and I can't even open Mac Mail
since this started.

That doesn't sound good at all... You mean the Mail application?? What
happens when you try?? I can't see how an Office update would prevent
Mail to launch, it would indicate a deeper problem than that.

Try using DiskUtility, select your boot drive and click on "repair
Permissions" to see if it helps at all,

Thank you for your response. I finally determined the problem was
caused after the download, with a prompt to enter my password on the
key chain. I entered the password for my Mac, and it changed the
password on the POP account. The repair was to reset the POP account
password. In retrospect, it seems so simple, but it took a very long
time to figure out. Receiving email is no longer a problem, and again,
thank you so much for your response. I am also very grateful to finally
discover these forums, which will serve as a place for me to read and
learn.
