unable to send e-mail after upgrading to Entourage 2004

I just upgraded to office 2004 and things appeared to go smoothly. I am
able to receive mail but unable to send. I receive an error message (-3176)
suggesting I check my account configuration or my network settings, both
of which remained exactly the same after upgrading. I have tried everything.
Could it be that I have not yet deleted the previous version of Office V. X and
that this is the problem? I am reluctant to do so until I am sure all of the
upgrades went smoothly.

Thanks to anyone for advice.

Did you create the account or let Entourage import? It's easy if you are
doing a copy/paste to add an extra space at the end.

Send & Receive problems can be complex to solve, but generally these
solutions apply:

* If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration

* If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

Having both installed is not a problem. See FAQs for Entourage 2004
