Unable To Send Email On Microsoft Exchange Server

We are currently running G4 iMac's, OS 10.3 Panther with Entourage 10.1.4
and are unable to send email messages. The MIS dept here believes we
cannot log into the server, and that the Domain Server is not recognizing
our computers (computer user ID). We get the error message unable to send
the email message using this account. error -3280 HELP!

Well if you can get mail, then as far as I understand it, you are able
to log into the server.
The problem entirely resides on SMTP. You have to make sure SMTP is
enabled onthe server and then you have to make sure there is no tricky
setting for SMTP (eg: requires authenntication, alternate port, SMTP
over SSL...).

If you really are stuck and providing port 25 is open on the network, as
a last option, yo can setup SendMail (before 10.3) or PostFix (10.3.x)
to use the Mac itself as the SMTP server :-\
