Unable to sort Events when Linking

Hi,

I'm using Entourage 2004. I like to link things to calendar events, but I'm
having some trouble.

When I open an item, select Link > Link to Existing > Calendar Event..., I
get a window called "Link to Event" that has a list of all my calendar
events. I cannot change the way this list is organized. The table headings
aren't clickable to sort the list like they are in the Link to Message, Link
to Task, or Link to Note windows. The "Event Title" heading is blued and
there is an upward-pointing triangle, but events seem to be listed in order
of creation, i.e., in ID order.

Has anybody else had this problem? It seems like a bug, but as far as I can
tell my software is up to date.

If I want to, I can select the event in the Calendar and link backwards to
the thing I wanted to link to, but that's annoying.

What happened to the Link Maker from Entourage X? That was a little bit
more intuitive.

Thanks for any help!

Yours,
Matthew Leingang

Yes, it's a bug. The problem doesn't occur with tasks, notes, contacts, etc.
Only with calendar events. I agree it's a big nuisance.

Correct.

This way is supposed to be easier, I think.

Hi again,

I wanted to let the NG and posterity know that I found a couple of
workarounds for this bug. The "Link Maker" is there, in the form of the
"Links To:" window that pops up when you click on the link button rather
than select something from the pull-down menu right next to it. You can
drag items from their normal view windows here and they will link to the
item you're editing/viewing.

Also, you can open a search window with command-F and find the items with
your favorite text in their titles or contents. Then drag from that window
into your Links To: window.

IMO these are both easier linking methods than sorting (when it works) and
scrolling the mini-browser that comes up when you select the pull-down link
menu and "Link to Existing > <whatever>..."
