Unable to view previous messages in 2003 after re-installing XP

Due to a rather nasty virus I had to re-install XP. 2003
was re-installed but none of my previous messages or
address are visable. A search soon locates them but I am
unable to retrieve/recover them. I get an error message
saying I don't have permission. XP was set up exactly the
same as before - same name etc. How do I recover the
messages and address book?
