Uninstall from damaged hard drive

I have MS Office XP Professional installed on computer with damaged hard drive.
I ;have new computer, but cannot download Office from old, so I can install
on new (Second install in on laptop). Is there a solution? Also, assuming I
am able to install on the new computer, since the Office XP I have is an
upgrade to Office 97, do I need to first install Office 97 to the new
computer before installing the XP?
