You can simply drag Entourage to the trash, but I'm not sure if the next
time you update if the installer will just install the latest copy. You
don't have to use it and it takes up very little space (10.7MB).

I was running out of space on my new machine
111.47gb total hard disk

27.73 gb available

after 14 days !

about 10 gb old files from other machines
the main hog has been clones of parallels

in effect I have two PCs with WinXP sp2
sharing the same hard disk and processor

I have an old HP monitor I use for the PC

do you know of any user group for the discussion of parallels virtual
desktop

Machine Name: MacBook Pro 17"

I see in start up items

Apache:

Description: Apache web server
Location: /System/Library/StartupItems/Apache
Provides: Web Server
Uses: Disks, NFS

is this essential ?

I used to be a power user in OS 6 to 9

so have just returned to the mac after a 5 years gap
still learning the tricks of the Tiger

Sorry, I do not. Maybe some one else can help with this.

I suggest the Mac-L list for general help with the Mac. This list has been
around for along time and is moderated so there is not a lot of noise on the
list. <http://www.listmoms.net/lists/#mac-l> You should be able to find
help there in reducing unnecessary files to free up space.
