Unread emails displaying as read (unbolded) in inbox...

A few days ago the unread emails in my inbox started to appear as read
(unbolded). An email will come in, and pretty soon after will become
unbolded whether I read it or not. I have tried to determine triggers
or any relevant timing, but it appears to be random.

I did not change any settings that I am aware of. I have rebuilt the
database, repaired and refreshed the message lists with no luck. It is
NOT because I have changed prefs regarding how unread email should be
displayed.

Not sure what to do next. This is driving me crazy as I've had quite a
few important emails come in that I have missed because they got
unbolded before I read them. :(

I neglected to mention that I am connecting to my mail account through
IMAP, in case that is relevant.

Check the Mailing List Manager rules under the advanced tab to see if any
have "mark as read" checked. Then check your Rules for Actions --- Change
Status to Read

Thanks Diane. Unfortunately, that is not it. I do not have any rules
created, and "mark as read" is not selected.

I no one can help me fix this, then I guess I need to explore
ininstalling and reinstalling Entourage. If anyone has any tips on
that, please let me know.

Did you check to see if you had any MLM rules?

that, please let me know.

Before reinstalling, try creating a new Identity in Entourage and see if the
problem happens there. You can set to "Leave mail on server" under your
Account for the testing so you don't loose any mail received. If you don't
want to start with a blank identity, then use File->export and use the .rge
file created to import into the new test identity.
