Unread mail folder problem

When some messages are read in the 'unread' folder, after
the folder is closed they disappear! They do not go to the
inbox folder, in fact they are untraceable in any outlook
folder even using the search function. Anyone got any
ideas?
Thank you for your time.

The unread folder is just a view of your other folders. If you read any of
the messages in the unread folder, they aren't unread any more so they no
longer show up there. If you don't see them in another folder (usually
Inbox), then you have an incorrect view setting. In the Inbox, what dows
View>Arrange By>Current View say?
