Unwanted .tif and .dat files after an image scan

K

Ken Martin Kvandal

When I have finished scanning one or more pictures with Windows' integrated
scanning utility, I keep getting .tif and .dat files in the same folder as
the saved scanned picture(s). The annoying files have names as 1.dat, 2.dat
etc, and sometimes a corresponding .tif file right next to it... Sometimes I
am able to open one or two .tif files and they contain some of the scanned
pictures (at an awful quality too), so all they do is destroying my system I
have with the other pictures!

*Note: I am not the one with the problem, I was helping my grandfather with
something else when he mentioned this.

Help appreciated,
