Update to 11.2.1

I just update to 11.2.1 ( combined) , and Entourage is quiting on start
up with an error message . I tried all options, verifying , rebuilding
database ... etc . when I removed the database manualy Entourage works,
but this is not very helpfull. the database utility state that it is
okay. this is unreal, I have tones of important emails, contacts and
calnder evets . please please help ...

What is the error you are getting on launch of Entourage?

thank you, it is a "Microsoft Error Reporting" window , it says "
Microsoft Entourage has encountered a probelm and needs to close. we
are sorry for the inconvenience". just tried to move the database to
another mac , same issue . the database is 2.19 GB .
thank you for your support.

Have you tried to do a rebuild using the database utility? To do this hold
down the option key on launching Entourage and choose to rebuild your
database.

I didn't receive any more feedback on my problem . is there a way to
extract information from the database file . this is very desperate
situation. I apprecaite the help.

I found out that when you do manual update to 11.2.1 , the read me file
ask you to delete the Exchange server account before updating . I ran
the automatic update without deleting anything .I believe that's why
I'm not able to open the database anymore and Entourage is not
starting. I'm not sure where to go from here , I really apprecaite any
ideas .

I wasn't familiar with that Read Me section; I believe the issue is related
to when you have had the corruption caused by moving mailboxes in 11.2.0.

OTOH, that section would probably resolve the issue. The problem is related
to a subtle corruption of the Exchange accounts in the identity that would
have occurred previously to 11.2, but causes 11.2 and 11.2.1 to react very
badly (crash).

If you have a backup of your identity and can afford to remove the Exchange
account (which means that categories and projects and links on those items
will go away), then update to 11.2.1 and re-add the Exchange account, you
should be good. At that point, you should just have some contact/calendar
item duplicates in your local calendar.

We're working on this issue.

thank you for your reply, probably what you have described is correct.
I just did an update for a friend who is using an Exchange server , we
we did it without deleting the exchange account and Entourage did not
start again as it happened with me . and we did it with deleting the
Exchange account and it works fine.

Unfortunately the latest back up I have won't be of much help to me .
So I'm stuck with 2 GB of un retrievable data, I managed to get my
contacts and calendar through my Pocket-PC phone , however the big
database of emails was "on my computer" is inaccessible.

I appreciate, to have closure on this issue, advising me if my emails
can be retrieved or can I open this Exchange corrupted database in one
way or another.
