Upgrade wants CDs - don't have them

G

Graham Cluer

I have upgraded a laptop running W98 to run Windows XP.
The laptop had a legal copy of Office XP loaded.

Windows installer now asks me to insert the CD Microsoft Office XP
Professional with FrontPage. I don't have these CDs.

What is my next move?

Talk to the person who built your machine and get the CDs. It is required
by the OEM license that the installation CDs be provided to the customer.

Graham,

Your next move should be to walk, hike, drive or even take a bus to your local
store and buy a legit copy of Office XP Professional. You might do yourself
justice if you buy Office 2003 and skip XP completely.

The Office XP installed is legal and legit. The computer belongs to a
school and the CDs will be there somewhere. The problem now is trying
to find who has them - they will be buried in a n office somewhere. I
know from past experience that this won't be easy.
