Urgent help needed

I am using OS X 10.2.8 upgraded a week ago. Everything was fine until
today. Mail I try to send goes into the outgoing mail box and does not get
sent. I seem to be getting incoming mail. Is not my server--checked. Is not
Firewall. I uninstalled and went back to default settings which always
worked before

Does the new setting involve sending through Exchange ???

I know the first 10.2.8 update was pulled because of a problem. Are you sure
you have the latest release?

Troubleshooting: Try to find where problem is located.

First, create a new identity to eliminate corruption in current identity:

Entourage 2001: File-Switch Identity>Select New

Entourage X: Entourage menu>Switch Identity>Select New

If the problems go away, then your old identity is corrupt. You can try a
rebuild on your old identity.

If the problem existed in a new identity then create a new User. This will
eliminate corruption or conflicts in your User Folder:

In System Preferences: Users: Create a new user. Log Out/In to new user.
Open Entourage and see if the problems go away. (You might need to recreate
your account info.)

If problems disappear then you know it's a conflict or corruption in your
user folder.

Other suggestions: Run Repair Permissions:

Run Repair Permissions after
any software update from Apple and for other software updates.

To use. open Disk Utility in your ~/Applications/Utility folder. Click on
the First Aid tab and select Repair Permissions. Don't run from CD as
updates have a newer version of Repair Permissions.

If you shut down your computer overnight, you need to run the cron jobs that
Apple has set to run at 3AM.

Download MacJanitor here:

<http://www.versiontracker.com>

Restarting often fixes many problem.

Hi Alfredo,
Hi, I am having the exact same problem. However it started before I upgraded
the Mac OS. In fact my administrator at work tells me he is seeing the
problem also on PC's in the network.

Every single time I've seen this type of issue, it was either an SMTP
server problem or a bad SMTP configuration in Entourage. What you
describe here tends to go in the same direction.

I have tried setting up new accounts
and scraping old ones and that has not worked. Funny though, I was advised
to open my account select advanced sending options then select the option
that says smtp server requires authentication and enter my password again
etc. When I tried this it did not work but as soon as I turned the same
setting off, the emails started to go again.

Then the SMTP server is not configured the way the administrator
thought.
This only happened for a short
while though and the problem has just kept coming back. I am happy to hear
that Mail is working for you. I would advise thought that one of the staff
in my office is having similar problems with her Mail program.

It really looks like the SMTP is behaving very poorly. If Mail also
fails to send mail, then the settings you use are not adapted. It's not
an ENtourage bug (not this time ;-) ).
In your case, I'd really consider enabling SendMail (Maco S 10.2) or
PostFix (macOS X 10.3) to use your own Mac as the SMTP until they fix
their issues.
I also had a case yesterday where I was sending a tender to TEXACO and the
email I sent (from Entourage) had copies of other emails in my in box with
the attachments I was sending. When I checked the mail I sent it was clean
but when I was sent back the email, shore enough it had in 5 other emails
from my in box attached and the actually message was also an email from
another person to me not even showing any of the words I had typed with what
I wanted sent.

I believe there is a serious bug at work here?

Have you had any issues like this?

I've never ever had that kind of problem.
