URGENT--lost my Entourage access

Hi,

suddenly a few weeks ago, my office 2000 Entourage gave me an error message
#1852402768 An error occurred while launching. Not enough memory.

Office 2000 ??? this error message is also really weird for Entourage. Are
you sure you are talking about the Mac version here ??
I have dumped virtually everything from my G3 Hard drive and tried to
rebuild my database both ways, but I've lost access to Entourage (and
consequently) my address book with clients, etc.

I suspect you are talking about Entourage but the problem is that I don't
even know what version you have or what version of the system you are
running. I'm afraid you'll have to give us more details :-\

how I can resurrect Entourage or at least get my contacts out...

That's bad too... Without the CD, you won't be able to reinstall if ever
Entourage is damaged.

There are several things you could try. Since you mentioned Office 2000 (I
suspect it is 2001) and since you are on a G3, lets assume you are running
MacOS 9.

- check the hard drive for mdamage with a disk utility
- make sure the system is up to date (use software update)
- make sure Office is up to date (check on http://www.mactopia.com/ ).
- launch Entourage pressing the alt key and rebuild the Entourage database
from there.

If you are running Office 2000, I presume you're on System 9, not OSX.
Correct?

If so, try selecting the Entourage icon in Finder, and using Get Info
(Cmd-I). There, try increasing the memory allotted to Entourage; make it
about 3000K. That may help.

Office 2000 is a Windows application. I'm guessing the original poster is
referring to Office & Entourage 2001.
If so, try selecting the Entourage icon in Finder, and using Get Info
(Cmd-I). There, try increasing the memory allotted to Entourage; make it
about 3000K. That may help.

The recommended size is actually 8192K, and I have the Preferred memory for
Entourage 2001 set to 22192K. I would recommend putting it in the
20000-30000 range if you have a lot of RAM (over 128 MB).
