URL link sent by entourage not working in windows

I

Ian Clark

Hello,

Forgive me if this has already been covered, but I couldn¹t find anything on
this.

I need to send out a regular announcement to a group that contains both an
inserted picture, and a URL which must be active as a clickable link.

I can compose and send the message with no problems. When I view it as a
sent item, everything is fine: the picture is there and the URL works as a
link. The problem I¹ve encountered is when the recipient is on a windows
PC, the URL appears as text but does not work as a link.

The problem seems to be with the HTML formatting. If I send a URL with the
HTML formatting off, it actually appears as a working link on PC¹s. This
is, unfortunately, not a solution as I need to insert a picture (it cannot
be an attachment) which requires HTML formatting. Hence my dilemma.

Any ideas?

If you are sending HTML messages and your recipient is in Outlook or Outlook
Express WINDOWS, they don't get Entourage's type of clickable links. Get

Make Hyperlinks <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>

A little background on URLs in Entourage messages:

When you compose a message the links do not appear active, but they are.
Just save the message as a draft and you will then see the active links.

Enclose the URL with < and > viz: <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/> so that
if the URL wraps over more than one line, it will still work when it gets
there. Don't forget to format with the http:// prefix.

That's only true for older versions of Entourage. If Ian updates to the
latest build of Entourage X, the links should be clickable on the Windows
side. Download and install the latest Office X update, which is 10.1.8.
It's available from Microsoft.
