User Licence Mismatch

N

Neil Ratcliffe

Hello,

I have come across an issue whereby the number of user licences shown in the
Admin section of Project Web Access is way higher than the number of users
we have. For example we have 162 users but the licence count shows 321 !!
And a subsequent message states that "Your Project Server users exceed the
number of licences. Please purchase additional licencess......"

Can anyone explain this anomoly please ? Is a licence physically
required for all our generic resources ? I didn't think that this would
be a requirement but I'd be grateful for any clarification?

Although ultimately we will have a large number of users we don't right now
and I am concerned that the information held in Project Server is incorrect.

I am not sure if this is a common problem or something that is isolated to
just us !!

Thanks in Advance ...

Regards

Neil

Gary,

It sure seems to count Generics. I have the same problem
and the only way I can get the count to make sense is by
counting our generic resources. Also, these are on the
user list in Manage Users. Does this not make sense? If
I delete them as users will the resource record be safe?

Thanks,
Scott

Scott:

Are you certain you've got the Generic check box checked for these
resources? Do you see the double-headed icons next to the resources in the
team builder, resource sheet, etc? The only way you'll see user accounts
created for resources is when they're not generic.

Ah! Well, they are now. Somewhere along the way the
generic property got lost (just did a big rebuild with MS
Support so probably there). Now they are not on my user
list either (and the count is now right)! All good.

Thanks!
Scott
