using a list to validate from different sheet

I am trying to insert data validation (drop down list) but want the lis
to be placed in a different sheet, is that possible?

Hi
try the following:
- select your list on the separate sheet
- define a name for this list (Insert - Name - Define')
- use this name as datasource in the data validation dialog. e.g.
=list_with_values_name

Name the range from the 2nd sheet, like "MyList",
then use =MyList in the data validation. Works fine.

The Validation List has to be on the same sheet, but you can use it to link
to data on another sheet............=Sheet2!F1, etc
