Using External Data Ranges on a network

We have an Excel spreadsheet that uses external data ranges to pul
information from several Excel files. Three of us in this area us
this file and it works fine for us. A user in a different area had t
be mapped to our directory to access the file. She is able to list an
open all of the files with no problem, BUT when she tries to Refresh th
data ranges, she gets an error that the file cannot be found because i
is not a valid path. What's strange is that the dialog box opens t
the exact directory where the file is, and if you click on the file t
"point" to it, it then completes the Refresh with no problem.

What's strange is that even though she is in the correct folder, whe
Excel is looking for the file it says, "s:\abc123\abc\123.xls" is not
valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and tha
you are connected to the server on which the file resides. But onc
you point to the file, and go to the SQL area in the Query, you can se
that it is identifying the file as just "s:\abc\123.xls" and apparentl
that works fine.

The title bar on the error says ODBC Excel Driver Login Failed, but I'
not certain that this is an ODBC error or else why does it start workin
once you redirect the file?

Could this be a networking issue and not Excel?

Thanks for reading
