Using FP2003 to make SECURE Forms

A

AMSOIL MAN

Please help me, I am so very lost trying to figure out how to use fp and make secure forms. I will never get customers to provide input unless they are sure that the sensitive information they are submitting is secure. My host gave me my https: address aand I made a cgi form
https://ssl107.securednshost.com/~stokesab/amsoil/Preferred/Preffered-Main.htm

But it has issues then I made a form
http://stokesabode.com/amsoil/Order/Pages/amsoil-price-quote.htm
using the fp wizard and cannot figure out where I would insert the https: address.

I do not need an email telling me I have a request just a way to store the data in a secure manner and then retrieve it in a secure manner. Of course the customer is looking for the padlock.

With all of the theft on the net it seems that this would be a very easy thing to do. Why am I so lost

You don't point your non secure web form to the secure site
- you need the form published to the secure site

The host needs to set up the FP SE on your secure site
looks like he has at
https://www.ssl107.securednshost.com/~stokesab/

Then you need to open that in FP and create your secure web content
(containing the pages you want secured)
or publish your "secure" web site content to
https://www.ssl107.securednshost.com/~stokesab/
instead of to http://www.stokesabode.com/

You can create links to / from your non secure site, but do not "share" content (images or any pages)

I think I have got it, geez as a rookie this is rather a daunting task. I told FP to use CGI as an the method as the pages I had developed using the FP WEBBOT caused me nothing but problems.
https://ssl107.securednshost.com/~stokesab/amsoil/Preferred/Preffered-Main.htm
http://www.stokesabode.com/amsoil/Dealer/Become-A-Dealer.htm
and let me knwo if I did this right?
As you can see by the url's, One goes straight to a secure mode the other does not but has the link to secure.

If this is working correctly all I need to do is to get the data to a mysql database with authentication required so my customers are assrued that I have done everything possible to protect them. I am totally open to a better solution as I have a bad feeling that I am leveraging on old technology.

Must say, I am pretty proud of what I did get working.??? Thanks

Seems to work fine

If your host only supports MySQL you will probably need to learn PHP or Perl to access it
- if it is a windows server it probably supports Access and/or SQL and ASP which FP can be use for

As I am sure you know i DO get a email with the contents inputted by the customer, granted the input does not go anywhere until I go to my email and pull it up but I agree I would rather it go to an access or my sql database and get the information in a secure format. My host is lynux, running on apache server, does that mean I need to come up with a mysql solution or will ms access work?

Once again, thanks for the input, youre help is truley appreciated

How are teh form results secured? They are e-mailed to (e-mail address removed) but is this secure with most standard e-mail setups?

I'm looking to create a secure form as well and am wondering what the most secure method is to handle the results.

Unless there is an email encryption program installed on the server, such as
PGP (Google for more info on "email encryption"), email is NOT secure to
send any sensitive information, regardless of whether the form is SSL
secured.
