Using Personal.dot instead of Normal.dot

Sorry if this has been posted already and I missed it, but I'm
stumped.

I'm attempting to set up Word 2003 so that it'll use a personal.dot
instead of the Normal.dot for any user adjustments. I'd like the
Normal.dot to be left untouched, so any style changes or toolbar
modifications to be made company-wide can easily be pushed to user's
computers without destroying any of the users' settings.
Any help with getting this done, or pointing me in the right direction
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

Check the following:

If you're pushing out apps with TS (eg: Citrix) the following may be a
very easy fix for you.
How to start Word with a template other than the Normal template
in Word
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290961/en-us?spid=2530&sid=36

The following could be used by users directly.
Loading global templates
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA011373061033.aspx

Depending on your environment, you use the previous information to set
the personal.dot template as default across the company by pushing out
the settings to registry by using the Word ADM. To do this you will
need access to Group Policy Management.

Other than that, try http://support.microsoft.com/ph/2530/en-us/?sid=36&aid=1&GSA_AC_More1
which discusses templates (incl) Global Templates in Word.

Regards,
Sox
