Using TABS in the notes section of Contacts

Although the TABS look well aligned when I list say ten items under NOTES in
a Contact, the finished view on Detailed Address Cards shows no alignment at
all i.e. the ten entries are all over the place!
It seems to me that TABS simply do not work in Outlook (Word is default
Editor)
Is there any way around this annoying problem?

they work, just not in views...
