V card trouble

I cannot forward a contact as a vCard either. In the address book list I have selected the vCard and typed COMMAND-J and I have tried the menu CONTACT-FORWARD AS VCARD. Each time the computer just beeps and nothing happens.

After reading this board I tried OPENING the contact and following the commands but the same thing happens: the computer just beeps and no email window opens. It's as if there is some sort of error but no error message pops up.

This is frustrating because I cannot drag the contact to the desktop and forward the vCard manually either. I'm running Leopard 10.5.2 on a MacBook Pro 2.6 with 4GB RAM.
