VALUE#

Hi can anyone help me with this probably simple question. I am trying to
add a sequence of numbers in one row to another figure in another
row/column.

say D9 plus A4 through to A8. i am starting off by = then clicking on D9,
+, then clicking and highlighting A4 - A8. The answer is coming up as
VALUE# rather than the total i am looking for.

Any suggestions??

Hi

You need to use the sum function:
=D9+SUM(A4:A8)
