VBA in 2000 vs. 2003

This forum helped me a few years ago come up with code that allowed me to put
shapes on the Master and populate them with call numbers to notify meeting
goers they were needed outside of the meeting hall without stopping the
presentation. We upgraded to PPT 2003 and now the macros don't run and the
shapes don't populate. They are in the macro list but "run" is greyed out. In
the VBA window you can't even step through. A security error code says macros
are not enabled but I have turned them on. What am I missing? Do I need to
rebuild the Master slide? Are shapes handled differently in 2003? Do I need
to set a reference to VBA or PPT 10?

1. Change the macro security setting level from very high to medium.
2. Now, open the PowerPoint file. When prompted for macros enable them.

Now, try to run the macro.

Thank you so much. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the hardest to figure
out. I guess I was just overthinking the problem. My people thank you, my
bosses thank you and most of all I thank you. (For making me look good. You
know I'll be taking all the credit for finding the answer. ;-)
